Body armor has saved the lives of countless individuals over the past several decades, but hard plate body armor, the type designed to stop rifle rounds, has one glaring shortcoming: buxom women need not apply.

In order to be effective, hard plate armor needs to be flat, but rigid flat plates do not work well for women with large breasts. But there is hope. Some manufacturers are pouring time and resources into designing plate carriers specifically for women, and we feature several below.

However, female plate armor design has still not caught up, meaning there are not yet hard plates designed specifically to harmonize with larger breasts. How to Use a Compass

With so many digital miracles at our fingertips a lot of people have lost track of time-tested analog skills that could save their life if the power ever went out or the battery on their smartphone died. GPS, for example, is a great thing but it relies entirely on electricity, and access to electricity is not guaranteed.

Hikers, hunters and frankly just about anyone else who enjoys getting away from it all from time to time would do well to develop their compass and map reading skills. Because, no matter how much you paid for your smartphone it’s nothing more than an expensive paperweight when the battery dies.

What is a Prepper?

If you are in the habit of believing what you read and hear in the mainstream media then you likely believe a prepper is a guy who hasn’t shaved since the 2008 financial meltdown, who owns a dozen AR15s and spends all his time stocking his bunker in Idaho with pemmican or hardtack.  And you could be forgiven for harboring that belief because that was the perception being peddled by the media prior to 2020.

But once countries began to close their borders and panic set in over the newest version of the coronavirus (according to the National Institutes of Health there are hundreds, seven of which have been circulating among humans for centuries (1), causing what we call the “seasonal flu”) a lot of people who had scoffed at preppers found themselves standing in line at Walmart with a cart full of toilet paper “prepping” for the worst.
