Ecogear TK120 Tactical is a budget friendly tactical flashlight made out of high quality material. The TK120 contains many features including a zoom lens allowing you to focus the beam. The flashlight can be used in multiple scenarios including camping, hunting, military, or night security.
The name Ecogear does a great job explaining what this brand is all about. They aim to provide an economical option for your gear. Don’t let the name mislead you, their low prices does not mean cheap material. For someone on a budget, this flashlight is a great option and is featured on our Best Tactical Flashlights page.
The TK120 is a military grade flashlight made of a durable aluminum with a hard-anodized finish. The light is also water-resistant, anti-abrasive, and shock-proof. The TK120 has a CREE XML-T6 LED bulb which provides 900 lumens on the highest setting. However, when using the zoom feature the narrow beam of light can project up to 1200 lumens.
The light also has a constant current and voltage circuit design which protect the LED emitter from possible internal damage. The flashlight measures 6.2×1.1×1.5 inches and weighs 5 ounces. This light is slightly longer than many others on this list which provides added comfort when gripping. The extra size is also useful in a self-defense situation is the longer bezel provides a greater striking surface are.
The TK 120 can be powered by three AAA batteries or a rechargeable 3.7V 18650 battery. The rechargeable batteries come included along with a rapid battery charger. The TK120 has 5 light modes to suit your needs. These modes are high, medium, low, strobe, and SOS. You can easily switch between each mode by pressing the tail-cap button and then releasing quickly.
The strobe feature is especially useful in a self-defense situation. When shone in the eyes it does not allow the photo-receptors to reset which shocks the vision. Strobing bright light causes the brain to create only partial images . As the strobe continues, these partial images combine with each other which increases perceptual disparity. These few moments of confusion can be all you need to have a big advantage over an assailant.
One of the coolest features of this flashlight is the zoom lens. This special lens allows the user to focus the beam of light in the exact area you need enhanced. This is very beneficial when you need a narrower beam in order to see something in the distance. This option is utilized by holding the barrel of the flashlight then pulling the head back and forth to make a larger or smaller beam. The beam is narrow when the head is extended and wide when retracted.
This light also includes a memory mode. When you leave the light on in the mode you want for at least six seconds, then turn the device off for at least six seconds, when you turn the light on again it will automatically revert to that last used mode. Another feature that differentiates this light from others is that it can stand upwards on a flat surface, resembling a candle. This light comes with several free accessories including a pre-installed lanyard, a spare lanyard, a spare o-ring, and a solar-rechargeable LED key chain flashlight.
What we like about it
For such a low price, the Ecogear TK120 flashlight provides tons of options. We are impressed with the 5 light modes, zoom function, and memory feature. Although not the brightest light or the highest quality, if you’re in need of something economical and want to get the most bang for your buck, this tactical light should be your choice.
This is what we have found that customers like: Many customers seem to appreciate that the light can run on rechargeable batteries, although some feel that they take too long to charge. It is convenient that the light can use three-AAA batteries as well if you really need to use the light when the rechargeable batteries are not available. One customer wrote, “Awesome flash light. I like that it has multiple settings and is telescopic. These flashlights are super bright. HIGHLY recommend.” Another person offered some good insight, “This is a great product and I am amazed at how bright it is. I use is specifically for working on my car (lights up entire engine bay) and also when I am taking my dogs out at night into my backyard that is surrounded by woods. The only downfall is the toggling of the different settings which you have to continuously go through every time you turn it off to find the correct setting. Other than that I would recommend this flashlight.”
Overall this is a good budget friendly tactical flashlight. It offers some good tactical features but isn’t on the high end spectrum as far as quality goes. The flashlight can be easily carried in a Bug out Bag or a Tactical Backpack. If you are just getting into the tactical flashlight world and would like to try something out at a good price than this flashlight is for you.
